Fridge is a favorite of the kitchen. We will store our perishable food here safely until we are ready to eat. Unfortunately, we do not use the refrigerators in the best way. We can fill more than necessary, we know what to throw away, we know to clean until the crumbs crystallize. In spite of all this, we start to complain even when there is a slight smell. Here’s how to clean your refrigerator:
How to Clean the Refrigerator
Throw away all the food in the trash. Take your food in the ice for a while and empty the refrigerator and prepare for cleaning.
2-Remove the shelves and drawers
Take out all the pieces that can be removed in the refrigerator and put them aside. Plastic or metal shelves or drawers can also be washed with hot water under the help of dishwashing detergent. However, to avoid breaking or cracking of ceramic or glass parts, you will have to wait for them to come to room temperature to wash.
3-Wipe the inside of the refrigerator
Mix some dishwashing detergent and hot water and wipe the inside of the refrigerator with the help of a fabric. You can start the wiping from the upper parts to prevent the dripping water from dripping. You can use a plastic sponge or cleaner for stubborn and stuck spots. Another option would be to leave a heated cloth in this area and wait for a few minutes to dissolve. The stain will then soften and be easy to remove. Then rinse with clean and moist cloths several times to ensure cleanliness. Pay attention to indentations and protrusions as well as areas where stains can be collected. Finally, you can delete the inside of the lid.
4-Clear shelves and drawers
Now, after your shelves and drawers have warmed up a little, you can wash them with dishwashing detergent and hot water and then let them dry. You should be careful, especially when carrying glass materials. You can use dishwashing gloves to prevent fractures and injuries.
5-Dry the interior
Use a clean, dry cloth or towel. Wipe the interior of the refrigerator thoroughly to make sure it is completely dry. Do not forget to wipe and dry the inside of the lid.
6-Place the food back
Place food in the refrigerator. In this step you can also clean your jars or pans that are dirty from the outside. In this case, you should make sure to use clean and dry cloths when cleaning.
7-Clean the freezer
Repeat the steps described above for your freezer. The most beautiful of the freezers is that the spills, which will require a long long rub, are usually not taking place here. That’s why cleaning up products is the most important part. If your freezer requires a deeper cleaning, you can repeat the above steps again.
8-Clean the outside
Starting from the top, you should wipe the outside of the refrigerator nicely with hot water and a dishwashing detergent. If you have a stainless steel refrigerator, you should use a sponge or cloth that will not scratch, and you can use a vinegar or glass cleaner to polish the outside. You should not forget to wipe the sealed plastics in the corners of the lid with lukewarm water and dishwashing detergent. Dirt build-up can cause the seal to break.
9-Seasonal: Dropper cleaning
Some refrigerators have an eyedropper that collects the condensed air and can be removed. In this case, you must find the dropper part. It is usually placed on the upper parts. You should remove the dropper before removing it with lukewarm water and dishwashing detergent. You can also use bleach if necessary. If you are not sure, check the instructions for use of the refrigerator. Then dry the eyedropper and reinsert it.
10-Seasonal: Clean the Refrigerator Coils.
Unplug the refrigerator and advance the refrigerator carefully and slowly. If the refrigerator coils are in the back, you can clean this part using the brush head of your vacuum cleaner. On some side models, the coils may be embedded in the rear top, bottom, or behind the refrigerator. Some may even have ventilators screwed onto the coils. In these models, it is much better to follow the operating instructions for cleaning. After the operation is finished, replace the refrigerator and plug in the refrigerator.
Refrigerator Cleaning Tips
1-As soon as the stains are formed, you can keep your refrigerator clean and use it for a longer time thanks to small steps such as cleaning old food weekly.
